What is EFT?
Case Study 1
Mary came to see us three weeks before taking her annual summer holiday in Spain. Ever since she could remember she had been uncomfortable around water. And as an adult refused to bathe or even paddle in the water. In a single session her stress level around the idea of being in water reduced enough for Mary to feel ready to try a visit to her local swimming pool. We were careful to address as many aspects of the experience of swimming from the moment of stepping into the water right up to putting her face IN the water.
Mary was comfortably able to swim but felt uncomfortable at the idea of jumping in or of swimming underwater. She returned for a second session before heading off to Spain and e mailed us from her holiday to report that she was swimming and diving like a dolphin.
Case Study 2 - A child overcomes a traumatic event.
Roisin's mother brought her to see us after she had noticed particular changes in her daughter's behaviour. She felt that the change in Roisin was the result of being shouted at very aggressively by an adult who misread her actions at a family event and had acted inappropriately by grabbing her. Even though the family had dealt with the incident at the time, there still seemed to be something affecting Roisin, normally a happy outgoing girl.
After talking with Roisin and using EFT we addressed a lot of the feelings about the incident and she said she felt much better. On speaking with her mother a couple of weeks after the session, she said Roisin was back to her usual happy self and if they talked about the day of the incident there was no evidence of the traumatic effect it had had on her at the time.
